Bodrum is the Turkish Mediterranean's jewel on the Aegean coast — a former fishing village transformed into a chic resort. Whitewashed houses, blue shutters, bougainvillea, charming harbour. Famous for nightlife, yacht marina and as a starting point for "Blue Cruise" to the Greek islands and the Datça peninsula.
🏰 Bodrum Castle (St Peter Castle)
Built 1402-1437 by the Knights Hospitaller using stones from the demolished Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. One of the best preserved Crusader castles. Today houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology — finds from ancient shipwrecks (Uluburun Bronze Age wreck). Entry: 200 TL. Best views of the harbour from the towers.
🏛️ Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — tomb of King Mausolus (377 BC), 50 m high. Destroyed by earthquakes in the medieval era, stones used for the castle. Today: archaeological site with foundations and scale model. Entry: 50 TL.
